Steve Kem
Environmental Science Instructor

Steve earned an M.S. in watershed science from the University of Montana's College of Forestry & Conservation in 2000, moving on to gain professional experience working in environmental consulting and later directing the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes Nonpoint Pollution Management program. Steve joined the faculty at SKC in 2006, teaching primarily geosciences and restoration related courses.
Steve’s other teaching experiences include teaching field based college courses through UM’s Wild Rockies Field Institute, instructing with the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School and leading crews with the Vermont Conservation Corps. He believes that teaching at SKC provides a unique opportunity to participate in bridging the gap between traditional knowledge and western science. When not in class, Steve enjoys all forms of outdoor pursuits with his family and playing guitar.
